I personally think a grace period of getting to know members, and alleviating the chances of bad apples is a good thing.
I joined because i'm new to crawlers, but not RC, and am looking for more opportunities to gain more knowledge, and yes save a buck with a buy/sell.

If you cannot afford the $20 for access then this hobby is definalty not for you. As a plus the endless amount of helpful people posting good information will save you many times that twenty bucks in the long run.

Just buy a STAR already...I can honestly say that buying things from the classifieds have saved me more than $20. In a sense, it pays for itself.

Really? You could introduce yourself in the newbie section. Tell us what you run, where you crawl, what your goals are etc. That will generate a few comments or questions that you can reply to and you're on your way.

Go thru the last weeks worth of posts in the newbie subforum and ask appropriate questions when you don't understand something. That's what it's there for and meaningful questions will count. And likely result in more discussion that you can participate in.

I expect what doesn't count is "cool truck", "x2" etc.
