Default Axail Pinion gear difference

Does anyone know what the difference is between the 48DP pinion gears that come with Axial vehicles and RRP 48p metric pinion gears. I tried the RRP pinions on the Axial tranny but they don't mesh right and Axials only come in 14 and 20t. Does anyone know what other brand will work with the Axial tranny. Thanks!!!
