Replacing E-Clip style pins with nuts and bolts?

Title pretty much says it all... Has anyone ever done this, and with success? My specific case is my Wheely / Crawler King. I bought a WK and the CK conversion kit and I anticipate switching back and forth with the kits. The lower links and the shocks mount to the axles with these #%^&%^$ E-clip pins and losing those e-clips is a PITA!

I have had two ideas:
1. drill small holes in the pins and use body clips to hold them in in place
(later deemed impractical and size of pin may not allow for this)

2. do away with the pins altogether and use nuts and bolts
Has anybody done this with any success? Or should I just buy a half gallon bucket of those #$%&@! E-clips?

I have never owned one,If you can find a pic I can try to help you out,It should not be that hard.I also HATE e-clips,Have you ever seen the ones on the micro-t

These are the bane of my existance!

This says that the pin is 3mm in diameter, my fingertip is at least 2cm wide! I could fit about 12 of those cursed e-clips on my fingertip! I may have just solved my problem...

Obviously, somebody at Integy also harbors an undying hatred of these evil little things!

Man, I have a lot of hate issues, I should go talk to a shrink...

strc makes a lock nut style hinge pin for the slash
i've had a set for over a year now and they're holding up pretty well

i dont think they make them for the wheely king though :?
maybe if potential customers showed enough interest, strc may put in the r&d to get them out the door

I have issues with this too. Drives me freakin nuts. I have wondered for a while what a good hardware replacement would be. Im working on a WK based trail truck soon- trans, and running gear. I could really use an alternative mounting method. Of course my WK crawler would have to be done too - cant forget about it.

There should be no reason why this would not work, just find the right size bolt or use all-thread and make your own with nuts and loc-tight

Got the nuts and bolts and they work

I bought some 3mm nuts and screws from AMainHobbies.com and they work wonderfully!
