servo recomendations???????

i keep breaking steering servos,:-(any recommendations? servo saver?

Sharkey 02-21-2010 11:23 AM

what servos do you keep breaking???

id recommend a hitec 645mg, its a good servo for the money and will get the job done without breaking. of coarse there is better, you could go with a hitec 7950tg, but its overkill for most.

i break those on a regular basis, buying gear sets is getting expensive. with the money i have spent already i could have bought a titanium geared servo.

I just smoked my hitec 7955 on friday, so I ordered a hitec 7950. It's a little spendy, but with 486oz/in I should not have any issues. It should come in this week and I'll give a review after a little bit of testing.

i am new so this may seem stupid but do ou really need that much ........ 486 oz/in seems like a lot

Servo's are one place where too much is never enough, I stall out my 403 oz/in all the time.

rocketguy 02-21-2010 07:27 PM

The Hobbico cs-170 might be another to consider. It's 90.00 has titanium gears and 333 oz at 6 v. I have had good luck so far with mine.

once you have the extra torque oyu will be glad you upgraded.
i stripped out my 645 and rebuilt it three times before i upgraded. the 645 doesnt hold up to abuse like the 7950 does.

First off, No servo will last if your epa is off and/or the steering is binding. Make sure everything moves smooth and the servo isn't trying to push through the stops at full lock. After that, if it doesn't turn, back off the wheel. Then get the best servo ya can afford.
Something like this:

or this:

After all that, it's a crawler that that puts some serious abuse on the servo and I've never got a year on a servo.

old hippie im kinda new to this crawling thing so what is epa and how is it adjusted? im running a trx tq4 radio.

rocketguy 02-22-2010 07:46 PM

can a 7950 run on the standard 7.2v 6 cell batt. pack or is it a lipo only servo?

norbyx 02-22-2010 09:40 PM

One question also is how important is the servo speed for rock crawling
