| newbie battery question
Ok. I have a 7.2v pack that is 1500 and one that is 3000. What is the advantage of the 3000. Is it more run time. more power. thanks for any info. I don't know much about the electrical part of this.

The mah rating is the equivalent to gallons of gas in a tank. The higher the number, the longer the run time. Sometimes you may even see a bit more ooomph when you punch the throttle.

thanks that is what I was hopping for. I got a stampede over the weekend and the batterys are only 1500 and I only get about 10mins out of them. I'm thinking they are also old batterys and they may be going out.

Depending on how you're driving, 10 minutes sounds about right. Going fast sucks alot of juice. I get about 20-30 minutes with 5000mah 7 cell packs in my brushless Slash. I tend to drive it extrememly hard. |

Just general around the driveway playing. Nothing to hard. Would like to get more time. Might go with a bigger battery. Sucks having to swap out batterys every few mins.

1500 is the bottom end for 1/10 scale trucks unless you have a very high turn motor. I don't run anything lower than 4000 in my trucks that aren't crawlers or 1/18th scale. Get you a good 5000mah pack and you will be ripping it up for 30mins or more between charges. If you have a lipo capable charger, just go that route.

I 2nd the idea of lipo. I waited a long time to switch and as soon as I did I regretted spending all that money on nimh because I never used em again. Except in my wheely king where it needed the weight back there lol. Good luck on your first baby steps towards the endless path to more speed/fun. T

first off lipo is a must 2nd off smaller batteries are better IMO I say this for a few reasons smaller batteries are 1.cheaper,if I fry one I'm out $20 and still got 5 more 2.smaller,makes it alot easier to place em where you want 3.lighter,weight can be a drag, epecially on your cog sure you dont get as much run time, but I get a good 10 min from my 500's in my berg and a good 20 min from my 800's on my mrc just my way of looking at it. hope it helps ya | |
