| Rear axle lock-out?
What is the point of the rear axle lock-out kits? http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax30494.htm Is it just a cool upgrade to alluminum? |

comps dont allow 4 wheel steer... so there is no reason to have another steering knuckle

The lock-out with straight axle is stronger than the knuckle, it keeps the rear wheels straight, is more reliable and gives a little more clearance. The little link that holds the knuckle is not very strong and will strip and work loose. Knuckles and 'C's will break, given time. And under stress the locked out knuckles will steer anyhow, things flex and bend. Lock-outs are a genuine upgrade. Cheers. |

OK, that makes sense. I guess some axles are built as steering both front and rear. It looks like the Axial crawlers have lock-outs already in the rear; that's what is confusing me. They are plastic though. So other than for strength and asthetics, they should not necessarily be an immediate upgrade? |

The stock axial plastic lockouts are pretty stout and the axial straight axles are the best normal size ones. No real need to upgrade.
