| www.hobbypartz.com cheap priced lipos and they work great for me so far. just make sure you know what size of a battery you want for dimensions. this way it fits where you want it in your rc.

These guys above have just about given you the best resources for quality cheap lipos. No reason to spend all sorts of cash, unles you want a Hyperion G3 Lipos. G3's are backed w/ a year warranty, and you can charge them @ 5C! They're not too expensive either, and charging a Lipo to full cap. in 20 mins is badass |

I re-read you Question... Your wanting to know what the best "Type" of battery is? If so I'd say Lipo strickly cause of small sizes and less weight for the same comparable NIMH pack. The performance will be the same under LOW current draw situations, which crawling is low draw. The performance is not the same between Lipo and NIMH with high speed / high draw trucks then Lipos really shine. |

| I know, I just ordered a pair of G3 VX 3S 35C 1800mah from my LHS for $42.00 each. This is cheaper than most places online. My pair of 2200mah were $50 each. The same mah from E-flight or common sense go for almost twice am much at yur LHS (local hobby shop). I love buying crawler batteries at a RC Helicoptor shop They tend to have the Lipo batteries we want in the sizes we need in stock. My truck had a lot more punch on the 35C VX lipos vs. my 20C & 25C Lipos and all of them blow away my 2/3 A packs.

Do you really need a top of the line battery for crawling? Why spend the money? That was kinda a retorical question...

| That is what is nice about Hyperion lipos. They are top of the line lipos but you don't have the high end price. Also higher quality blipos tend to have more mah in a smaller package. Compare the size of some of the lower end batteries to some top of the line bateries and the top of the line will usually be 5 to 30% smaller for the same mah ratting. All depends on cell capacity and cell quality.

| I used to buy alot of cheap batterys. Now I have had 4 good batteries (hyperion vx / thunder power 45/90C) for about a year and they have more punch/power too. |

Are we talking about the same thing here? We're talking about crawler lipos. I run a ThunderPow 910mah 15c reciever pack in my shafty crawler. It would do just as good as a 100c pack (in a crawler)...

Yes, I'm talking about my crawler! You may believe that receiver battery is fine (Thunderpower does underrate their batteries) but a higher output battery will make a difference. Even a crawler can pull 60+amps amps pretty easy. I thought the little 500mah/25C batteries were OK too. Last edited by oldhippie; 04-18-2010 at 08:27 AM.
