Default I need a shopping list

Ok people....

Here is what I have: a rooster esc, a duratrax receiver, 27 turn epic motor, 4 shocks, and the transmission and motor plate from an old duratrax evader st.

What I need...advice

What parts will I need to make a crawler and a potential play by play if anyone is so inclined.

Thanks in advance.

You are posting in the Scale 1.9 section. Are you wanting to build a Scaler (fairly capable, but has realistic body and details), or something very capable (unrealistic chassis layout and body to tire ratio)?

Scalers are in the size categories you see on the main forum page.
Micro
1.55/1.9/2.2 are the diameter of the wheels (not tires)
Large

Comp crawlers are by brand/model, unless you post in the 'General' thread.

If you are buying your supplies - just a few of the many places:
(check the vendors section for many more brands and shops)

Thank you all for the advice. I am planning on going as scale as I can. I picked up a Toysrus f-150 yesterday for the body.

What are your thoughts on frame materials. I am not against brazing, I would like to give it a shot.

8/32"...isn't that the same as 1/4" lol, That seems quite large.

I'm using 3mm which is just shy of 1/8".

8/32 is 0.164 OD = 4.1656mm
1/8"=0.125" = 3.175mm

I use 3mm ends into delrin, found some 3mm allthread at Mcmaster Carr, but going 4mm or 8/32 is not that bad, especially since you can buy it at your local hardware.

Frame choices:

I cannot speak to brazing as much - have not tried it yet.
I have a 2.2 chassis that someone made with 1/2" square tubing , bent up and over axles, then cut down the middle with a bandsaw to end up with nice "C" channel. Then they brazed cross tubing and a lower exo-skeleton onto it.

Alum tubing - square, C channel, other can be bought at hardwares. You end up with straight rails, with raised mounts for shocks and such.

HDMPE (??) - cutting board material
Delrin - acetal - my favorite to play with as I have a small mill to cut it on.

Lots of nice chassis rails out there to start with that some of the vendors have. You add your own cross tube to the with that works under the body you have.
What is the wheelbase of the F150 you picked up? X-trail and L-trail rails may work. There are many others.
