| Got my links. Which rod ends and set screws?
I am building an axial based comp rig, stock chassis, and I am a little confused on which rod ends and set screws or all-thread to use for my links and steering linkage. I also would like to go a little beefier than stock. I'm kinda guessing the traxxas ends are the way to go, but which ones? I have str 30* bent lowers 101mm, hr 55mm uppers and hr steering linkage. Thanks for the help!

| The stock rods are set for 3mm threads. If u use the traxxas rod ends and 3mm long set screws you'll need the normal ends. u can also use the revo ends after u drill and tap the links for a 4mm sent screw. it is beefier but more work and more $$ for the rod ends. I think the stock length of the 3mm set screw is 16mm long. Hope this helps |

Traxxas ones work well, but the revo ones are way beefier. I snapped the regular Traxxas ones multiple times per outting. With the Revo ends, I've only blown one, and that was from a 4ft drop, to one wheel.

If you don't want to (or lack the ability to) drill and tap th stock axial links to 4mm, you can buy a revo rod end, take it to the hardware store, find the allthread that screws in the best... then find the aluminum sleeve that slides over that size all thread. There are a couple of different sizes of allthread that will fit a revo end. One fits good and the other is a tough fit (but even beefier). I think the smaller of the two would be fine, and it's easier to work with. Definitely go with the 4mm rod ends. (revo) |
