ESC noob question

Alright I have a Honcho kit coming this week, I am getting parts together and I can't figure out what ESC would be better. I have a XL5 waterproof and a CC sidewinder. I am running 3s lipo. Any suggestions. How water-resisant is the CC?
Thanks, Brandon

get the sidewinder and pack the case with dielectric grease

Will that make it water proof I need to get a bx for the rx anyways so I may just get a bigger box to house both of them.

sure will, i hear that it comes coated with something (like an epoxy coating) that makes them splash resistant, but id wouldnt risk it, even if you are going to put it in a box, it wouldnt hurt to pack it full of grease anyways just incase, and the sidewinder is much more programable so id say stay with that, the XL-5 isnt great for crawling at all just a bash esc. hope this helps!"thumbsup"

Thanks for the help I have both sitting in the box. I saw that alot of people ran the XL5 and didn't know if it was better. But I will be using the CC

no problem! i accualy prefur my crap axial esc over the xl-5 because it has a smoother low end.

i cant wait to get a Holmes waterproof BR-XL (of course that comes when $$ allows)

I understand the $$$ part I pulled apart my comp AX10 to convert it to a scaler for my son. I got it all together and only needed info on the electronics so his is getting the XL and some cheap towerpro 996 servos for our steering.
