Default Getting Started

Well I would just like to start of by saying hello and this is a pretty great site. I have a few questions about getting started in this hobby/ addiction that you guys have with these cool scale rigs. I have been lurking here for some time gathering what info I can and there is alot!

MY debate is weather to go with a rtr axial or comparable rtr or a kit?

I want to build a kit but am trying to weigh the rtr vs kit which one is better to start off with.

I know the building of it is way more fun but cost wise would it be worth it to go with the rtr and gradually upgrade or save and save and then get everything for the kit?

I haven't been into the hobby since I put together my old Blackfoot which the Blackfoot body I have is my inspiration for my scale 4x4 build.

Thanks for any responses and I will endeavor to use the search function as much as possible. Just looking for opinions that you all that have been in the hobby for a while have.

I'd start with a SCX10 rtr, it's a good starting point, ez to mod and customize to what you need.

I would get the honcho in kit form, you can then get upgraded electronics to start with.
Here's some mods to get you going:
weight the tires
cms steering
axel trusses and true 4 links.

Thanks for the replies guys! The honcho is looking like the clear choice. It seems pretty good out of the box but with me nothing stays stock for very long

That video is pretty cool! I think that is going to seal the deal on the scx 10 for a good start into the world of scale crawlers. I can't wait to start crawling and customizing!

don't' know about the honcho kit but the rtr honcho comes with 2 4-link axle trusses.

I am pretty sure the kit does not include the 4 link trusses. I know the Honcho and Dingo TR's do. I would start with a Honcho TR and then save your pennies for future upgrades....
