You can use a photo host like www.photobucket.com to upload your pics. Then the site will provide you a direct link to the pictures.

Buy a star then you can post pics directly. And support this awesome site.

So how do some people post their pics so large? It seems like I need to resize them pretty small to meet the maximum limit? Any hints?

They are linking them from another host site such as Photobucket. Pictures over 800 x 600 are annoying anyway and make page loads take forever.

The problem with linking pics is that eventually you will run out of bandwidth and the host site will disable your pictures.
If you become a member and upload them to the site, they will be there forever.

Here's a great example of why remote hosting pics sucks.

This is an epic build thread from F-150Highlift where he scratchbuilt a Willys pickup body out of styrene.
The problem is that most of the pics don't work anymore so the thread loses alot of it's appeal. He might have moved the pics to a different folder on his hosting site, he might have deleted them, or he might have reached his bandwidth limit.

1.9 Willys Jeep Pickup project!
