Both the Rooster and the Rooster Crawler say 2S max on the Novak spec sheet:

some of the guys that i crawl with run the Rooster Crawler with 910 mah 3s lipos with no problems the big thing i worried about is over discharging them. but they only do a couple crawls on it then charge it back up.

man I wish I had a dollar for everytime Ive made this statement,,using 3S on Rooster Crawler can be done but it voids the warranty because the Rooster is only rated for 2S. It is rated for 2S because the Rooster's lipo cut off circuit is only rated for 2S,,,if it was rated for 3S it would handle the 3S lipos just fine..now that being said...I have run 1300-1350mah 3S on my Rooster for several months now...I do this at my own risk...the secret to doing this safely is to buy and install a Novak Smart Stop 3S lipo cut off switch. Install it according to the direction and set your Rooster for 2S lipo cut off and you are good to go. The Rooster's I have are still just fine and working perfectly after running 2S and 3S through both of them with single and dual motors from 35t to 65t.

More questions feel free to pm me or search this forum and the General forum for "Rooster,3S"

I've seen a couple of people do it, they didn't fry their ESC, but they kept shutting down due to heat.

Dunno, the last time it was durning our finals while I was judging, the driver had to take two repairs, on the second one he dropped a 2S in and had no problems the rest of his run.

I'm sure other loads on the battery and ESC might have played a part. Are you running a BEC, I don't think he was?

I run 3s on both of my roosters with no problems just need to watch the 3s cutoff or install cut off switch like RM said!
