Default Help trying to choose a Lipo battery

I am sure this is already on here somewhere or something that would help me but I did not see the info to answer my question anywhere. I am wanting to change my nimh 7.2v 4500mah battery to a lipo. I would like to keep about the same run times and use a 2s maybe a 3s pack. I am not sure what I need as far as the mah and does it need to be a 25c or 30c or what. It is for a super class with 2 novak 45t motors a tekin fxr front and rear steer and front and rear dig by way of a micro servo. Can somebody help me out here or explain to me how to come up with what battery to run? Thanks

I have seen lots of people with similar setups run 1100 to 1500 mah 2s or 3s batts that are 25c to 45c. I personally only run an axial with a 55t and a 645 dig servo and a 9100 jr servo. I run 3s 1500mah 15c batts. They are the cheap china Mystery batts. I get about 1 hour and somtimes more on them. They never even get warm. I run with an 87 spur and 15t pinion so it is not geared very low. Anyway there are a million choices out there right now. Ask Holmes, Chris the Battery Man, JamMaxamps. They have a wealth of info on the toppick. Just remember alot of times with batts you get what you pay for.

These look pretty good.

I strongly suggest getting a Hyperion 35C G3 VX battery from RCdude:
http://www.rcdude.com/servlet/the-Ba...-VX/Categories

I am running one and it is a great, high quality battery with great runtime (I have the 2600 mah 2S and get 1.5 hours runtime). That site site has the cheapest prices you will find on these batteries too. By the way, I also am running my battery with an FXR esc and a 45T motor and this type of battery works great with the setup.

That FXR should be able to easily handle the 3S lipo....but you need to make sure that it is set for lipos and that the LVC is engaged.

Realistically, you need to first determine the maximum size that this battery can be to fit in your desired location. When you have that figured out, then we can help find you the perfect battery.

I run a 20C constant, 30C burst 4S 1300mAh lipo on my super and it seems to give the power and runtime that I need.

I know about the settings on the fxr and when I go lipo on it I will be sure to switch the settings. I have a spot right now big enough for a 7.2 nimh which is about 5 1/2 inches long and 2 inches wide can go a little wider or longer. I just want to go lighter and keep my runtime. I can run for about 30-45 min right now with the 7.2 nimh 4500mah just depends on where I am and how much I am in the throttle.

Well, even the longer lipos wont be as big as a NiMH stick pack. I would go with a pack like this:

http://krawlerhobbies.1freecart.com/...c-60c-lipo.htm

It's about 3.5" long (not including balance wires or leads), 1 1/4" wide and 3/4" tall. It has a high discharge rate which will be good since you are sticking with a 3 cell. Not sure what runtime you get, but with my 1300mAh 4S pack in my super I get about 35-40 minutes.

Just make sure that you get a Thunder Power balancer tap for your charger.

I second the 30c 1050 rhinos
They run cool and hard with my trigger finger and 35's. Longest lasting batteries I've had so far and charging at 5c is great.

If ya want to keep the same runtimes, ya need the same mah. That said, 30-45 mins with a 4500 seems really short on a crawler (even a super). I figure 300 mah max per 6 min in my comp crawler. So something around 1800 should give ya 45min pretty easy?
As ya go up in mah ya don't need as high C rating (mah x C = Amp output). I feel ya need at least need something over 50amps burst in a dual motor crawler.
I like hyperion and thunder power.

We carry alot of lipos from in-expensive all the way to the best of the best.. Thunder Power. Below is a link. You can also check out the factory direct tab on there too. I would suggest comparing the packs to the dimensions of your current battery. That way, you know it will fit right.
