| Shock Oil and Wheel Weight help!
Does anyone know how much oil I should put in my shocks? I want to make them stiffer. Also when I attach Wheel wieghts should I put them on top of each other and keep them balanced or not worry about that. Thanks.

First of all what are you running, the more info you give to us the more we will be able to give you advice. Second, your shocks should be all the way full. When you fill them make them full and then slowly cycle the shock to remove any air bubbles. Then put the cap on and screw it all the way down and then back it off about a turn and cycle one more time to make sure all the air is out and any excess oil will spill out. Now just tighten them down and you are good to go. Also you said you want to make them stiffer. The oil only controls the speed of the shocks not the force they apply. With a thicker oil the shocks will react more slowly so it does make them more firm during an abrupt change in length but this doesnt really make them stiffer overall. Why do you think that they need to be stiffer? If you describe the problems you are having it may be easier to give you advice. |

I am running a Crawler King. the shocks seem to be really flexly, whenever I crawl over rocks the tires rub the body. I have trimmed the body back some by cutting off the fender flares. Still get some bad rub thou when crawling. I wanted stiffer shocks so that the shocks are smoother, right now they seem to bounce around alot.

Then you want softer springs and thicker oil.
