Default super class clod esc

I started building a clod channel based superclass crawler about a month ago and almost have it running. I am running 2 7.2volt nimh battery packs and integy 55t crawler motors. I bought a cheap esc and i smoked them after only a a few minutes of runtime. I was just wandering what sort of esc would be the best for my use. (i am also running castle bec pro) and hitec Quarter scale servos and 40 series moabs.

Ditch the 2 Battery Packs...Are you running 14.4v or 7.2v?

You want something with a drag brake. FXR, Sidewinder, Mamba Max or Holmes ESC. I'd make the switch to Lipo as well. You can get Lipo's cheaper then nimh packs.

im running 7.2 volts. I had toyed wtih the idea of using the holmes esc. after doing a little research. And was planing on going to lipo eventually (When i have a little extra cash). Had also condsider going to brushless. But the rig being a super and haveing to buy two of everything has kinda slowed the build down.
