I just got a MS16 for my 5yo daughter and I need ideas on how to adapt a better body to the chassis

do anybody knows which body post and what mods I need to make to adapt a bug or 1/18 MT or SCT body?

i havent actually mounted it but i have sat my 1/18 truggy body on my ms16 and seems like the stock position body posts would work with it. to have a 1/16 scale sct body but havent sat it on the ms16 before so i might do that when i am near my rc's again!

I installed the rc4wd 12mm wheel wideners on the fronts, but it requires drilling a larger hole in the rims! Also you need your own washers to keep their assembly from rubbing. The supplied washers don't fit inside their own product - I would not recommend their product for these perticular vehicles. They did work however, it's a shame they don't have some smaller ones as even with 4.6 size tires the 12mm is more than enough extra width to clear linkages

Yeah i to had to drill a little bit bigger hole in my rims your post just reminded me of that. Bit disappointing with the fitment of the rest though i didnt seem to have any of other trouble other than drilling the rims.

So still on the hunt for an r/c or two. Just curious...for about the same amount of money, would you take the Maxstone 16 (new), a Losi MRC (used), or Vaterra Slickrock (used)?

Newbster. I have a fully modded maxstone with everything in this thread performed to it that I would be willing to part with. Hit me up if interested.

Does anyone know if the gearbox for the MS 16 is the same width as the Losi MRC. I'm thinking about a Ridgeback chassis or possibly a scale chassis. I know RC4wd sells a MRC scale chassis, but before I pull the trigger I want to make sure.

Also, any suggestions on upgraded shocks?

My everest 16 is so much fun. Ordering the temper servo mount (I have mine temporary mounted). Made front beadlock rings out of steel that weigh approximately 1 and 3/8 ounces.

How would you rate the capability of the EMS compared to a stock scx10 or mst cmx(In case anyone of you has a cmx)? Does it easily roll over?

I am planning to use it on my suzuki samurai scale build. I am choosing between this or the CMX but I think the axle of the cmx is wider and will let my tires stick out but it will definitely make it much more stable versus the smaller track width of the ems.

I don't know if comparing the ems 16 (or everest 16 or ecx temper ) to an scx10 is a fair comparison. An everest 16 is under a hundred rtr. It's fun and capable for it's size. A few mods, mostly free ones, make it a much better crawler. It definitely needs tire weights and a better servo. The ecx uses a full size servo.

Well I know that its apples to oranges but I really just want to know how capable it is when its fully modded. I am going to build it for a class 1 rig so comparing it to an scx10 is probably unfair. Do you think this will perform better than a cc01 as a rock crawler?

A modded 16 will definitely out crawl a stock cc01, way more articulation, and look a lot more scale since it has the solid axles instead of the ifs. Even mine with the steel body doesn't flip over much. Not after adding weight to the wheels and moving the shocks out. It is a lot slower than the cc01. But that's just changing the motor to something better, which you'd do anyway. So far it's been durable, except for the servo. I know I'll be doing the front gear set soon, since the stock locker is plastic and has lots of play in it now. But, parts are wicked cheap and readily available since so many companies used the same truck. Heck, even losi mrc parts fit with a little fiddling.

Thanks, I just ordered one. I will put a ladder frame in it once it arrives.

How much steering angle do you get on the stock dogbones?

I don't know the exact angle, not much like 30 degrees. If you look back in this thread there are cures for it using losi mrc parts. If you go on shapeways.com there's an adapter to run wraith camber blocks and knuckles for the mrc that can also be adapted to these axles (same process as is in this thread ) this is going to be the way I go when I eventually start my build. I'm making a custom aluminium frame . I just have too many other projects right now. It is a fun rig right now though just to mess around with.

Refer back to post 769 in this thread...

I ended up going with a mid-1960s Structo dumptruck instead of my planned 1990s Nylint model. Redcat axles were shaved and plastic melted and pushed to seal up some holes.

Added a set of Tamiya leafsprings that were too long, i think it was the truck set instead of the semi. I curled sprung eyes on the 'b' spring to make a short enough to be main spring up front. Tuning leaf springs in a whole different animal, it's mostly in the shackle.

The body is steel, the chassis is steel, the bed is steel. The weathering is real.

I cut some corners in some aspects of the design, but i'm trying to make the "toy trucker indy show".
http://www.toytrucker.com/26th-annua...tion-show.html

The dumps not working yet, but it atleast a truck.
