Just wondering if there was anyone out there in this thread still? I'm apparently way late to this EMS 16 thing. |

I read through this thread myself researching the Everest 16, only to get to the end and see that it kind of died. Maybe things will pick up since the Holidays are over.

Yeah, I've read through the thread several times. Been picking what I think will be the best mods after seeing what everyone else has tried. Torque twist almost completely gone by flipping the transmission 180, and switching the wires. Installed 4 wheel steering. Awesome. Working on the four-link suspension mod. I'm making a plate under the servos for the upper linkages, that also extends to hold the battery up front, and the esc on the backside (lower that COG). Eventually I may even get to drive it around. |

Ditto here... I picked up an E16... Lots of good info on this post tho... I did the 4 link conversion, changed out my shock oil, added shock spacers, and weighted down the axles. Got it working pretty good with almost no torque twist. I also swapped out the motor with the Redcat 370 motor that came out of the Redcat Volcano 18 which gave it quite a bit more power and speed. I swapped out the body for a Disney Towmater body since I got this for my son and he is a Disney cars fan. It crawls decent enough considering the body is very top heavy. I didn't do any of the mods to lower the cog (drop the electronics) since my cog is thrown off by the heavy body anyway.... Scttduk I would be curious as to how you like the 4 wheel steer once you are done with that mod... I am thinking of doing that myself... Also plan on adding some wheel spacers down the road to get more turn radius without hitting the lower links... Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |

daBigO - the 4-wheel steering is great, tightens the turning radius a lot. It also helps the rear tires get traction when you're climbing and you can wiggle them back and forth to find the grab. On your 4-link, how did you do your lower linkage? Did you fab a new motor mount, and if so which configuration did you go with? (any pictures?) I'm also looking to upgrade the motor to a 370 - Fireball. Did you change your pinion from the 14T? Thanks, |

Thanks for the PM. I got my Fireball 370 installed, but I'm having trouble getting the right gear mesh. I tried the paper trick, but its still making a noise like its too tight. So I've been loosening it (trying to anyway) little by little, but still haven't gotten enough space in there yet between the gears. Its a work in progress. |

OK, so I've adjusted the pinion mesh with the main gear and that runs smoothly by hand. Then I go to run it and its ok at first then I start getting a grinding noise and jerking stops. Now what? I'll have to take it apart again and check to pinion mesh, but I think I've fixed that. Maybe the other gears? The main gear had a slight bit of play within the pinion gear mesh. It rolled relatively smoothly. Anyone have any thoughts? |

Possibly a damaged spur gear. Is there a little rock in the teeth? I had that happen before. Sent from my ALCATEL ONE TOUCH Fierce using Tapatalk |

Still can't find the loud noise now that I've taken it mostly apart. The transmission sounds fine and turns easily enough without the motor attached. Still trying to figure out the grinding noise. | |

I also checked the spur gear and it has all its teeth.

guys there is no question that 4ws is great. what will really make it fly is in how well you can control it. I use a stick radio and use one joystick for both servos. left to right is the front servo and front to back is the rear servo. at 45 degrees one way, the wheels turn the same direction, at 45 degrees the other way, the wheels turn different directions. as I move the stick more horizontal, the front turns more than the rear and as I move the stick more vertical the rear turns more than the front. with a pistol type radio it is always full on or full off. something to think about enjoy |

That would taking some getting used to, but I could definitely see where that would be very useful. It'd also take a transmitter that cost more than these rigs themselves. |

So I was having trouble with my transmission working fine then producing a grinding sound. Took it all apart and everything spins smoothly. Hooked the motor up to run by itself, and at very low rpm it is very jerky, then as power is applied it smooths out. I though these brushed motors were supposed to be smooth all throughout the powerband? Any ideas? |

On my motor issue, I re-connected the stock motor and it didn't have a problem at the low rpm, so I'm not thinking its the esc's fault. Maybe a bum 370 Fireball? |

Scttduk here is a pic of my links on the 4link conversion. I also had to modify the shock mounting locations... Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk |
