That would be much appreciated. Doesn't look like the EMS parts will be available in the near future, and I can get the MRC studs online now.

BTW, the EMS balls appear to be 4mm on a 3mm shaft.

Nobody out there who can verify the ball diameter of the MRC studs? I've read in a couple places that they are 4mm, but that's not verified.

Put 4-link on rear only. Interestingly, the torque twist is 98% gone with the lightest body. After the body weight increases, the twist becomes more noticeable.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to gather a lot of info to mod my sons ems16. I figure for my first post I should contribute.
I did my version of the 4 link
Outboard upper rear and flipped shocks
Inboard upper front and flipped shocks (heavier springs x4 cuz it heavier now)
Fabricated new battery tray for lower / forward cog out of angle and flat aluminum (wanted to use nimh batts I had)
relocate horizontal braces
relocate esc to rear housing
dynamite tazer 280 with stock pinion (about 3x as fast as stock now)
solar servo
mrc knuckles in rear (waiting on nitrorcx chubs then will install front knucks)
aluminum hex's
cut the sh^t outta the tires ( got a little carried away)

Alot of parts I used were from parts that were removed.

Work in progress.....btw, my son (6yo) could care less about the mods..HA!

Next will be to make aluminum steering links for front / rear or maybe rear lockouts.

before I moved the shocks in (above). The shock collar was binding on the frame when flexed, so I moved the upper shock mounts in.
and after in the next pic.
The original mounting holes for the lower end of the upper links were too far apart and were binding with the shocks or the tray (can't remember), so I made a small aluminum plate, used the original mounting holes to secure it, and made new mount points closer to centerline for clearance. You can see it in the new plate/mounts in the next pic and again in the second to last pic.

battery tray has just enough clearance.

I can fit my lipo too

Nice work. Always fun to mod things to improve performance. BTW, used to live on the Big Island but moved to Portland to be near family.

Put a 4 link on the back. Torque twist is gone. Put a MRC body on it. Looks good and fits well with minimal trimming. Haven't broken any parts yet - fingers crossed.

had a go at reducing a 1.9 rover to 1.55 size today as it will more suit my build to have a smaller tire. lower cog as well which will be nice, at the sacrifice of clearance, but im not fussed on that.

I got my boy a Maxstone 16 a few years back and now it's having problems, when the trigger on the tx is centered it will start backing up by itself, it doesn't matter how you have the throttle trim adjusted it acts like it has a mind of its own sometimes. Do you think it's a transmitter/reciver problem or an esc? I'm into this truck for les than $100 and don't want to dump a lot more money into it, if I can fix this cheaply I will, if not I'll just shelf it and upgrade him to something else.

Hey I had to take apart the tx and open up the throttle pot. Turns out that my pot back plate wasn't centered on the pot, also seemed dirty. After cleaning it and putting it back on centered it worked properly again. This takes some careful hands but is free.

I got my EMS16 last night. I have been lurking in this thread for months watching the progress and and gaining a lot of knowledge. I thank you all for your efforts and willingness to share you trials and tribulations. My goal is to outperform my neighbors slick rock on a budget of 250$. If I can't accomplish this I will most likely just order slick rocks for my sons at Christmas time. I will post my upgrades and mods for future EMS builders. Again, I'd like to thank all of you for all of your efforts and information. It has taken a lot of trial and error out of my first build since 1985 and a tamiya frog and a wild willys.

So my initial purchase from NitroRC.
EMS16 95$
Servo linkages 2 4$
Adjust linkages 2 2$
Solar Servo 772 20$
RC370 motor 5$
Total 126$

Found the motor listed in 18th scale trucks and buggies. If I want on a budget I would buy everything exceed just to give the knockoff haters some fuel. I will be making my own servo and electronic mounts. I will convert to 4link this evening.

I am placing an order for some 3racing chubs, knuckles and rear lockouts. Does anyone have information on 3racing swing shafts? Are these cvds or a standard replacement? I will drill knuckles for zero Ackerman also. Any information on the swing shafts would be greatly appreciated.
