Default NEWB looking for a crawler

Not sure if I should get 1/18 or 1/10? Was looking at the Losi 1/10 RTR Night Crawler. But I know nothing. Probably wont be doing competitions or anything anytime soon. Just looking for something to mess around with in the backyard and build a rock garden. So I guess the question is what should I look for? I dont know jack about these things, so I think a RTR would be a good place to start. Thanks

Also, I saw a link to an Axial. Are those RTR? Is one better than the other out of the box (Axial vs Losi)?

What are you looking to do with it?

Are you looking to just buy something to drive around the yard till your bored? Are you looking to join a club and compete against other members? Are you the type of person who will look to modify, change up and customize the kit?

I recently bought a Axial Honcho, and its great!.. I just beat around the yard and parks with my kids, some minor modifications and seems to meet my needs thus far..

Crawlers can go from $200 to $2000 pretty quickly depending what your needs are.

Default 1/10

I would make sure to get a 1/10th scale. They are by far the most popular, and if you ever decide to comp with it, you can. I would probably go with whatever your LHS has parts for. It's nice to be able to get parts locally when you break. I think the RTR AX10, Nightcrawler & Rockslide are all decent values for the money.

Well for now it will be something to use in the yard and mess around with when camping and wheeling. Eventually I may join a club and compete, but that would be down the line.
