If you are a member, as I see from the green star that you are, this is my recommendation:

If you own the pic, or took the pic - post it up from your own PC as an attachment, easy-peasy...

If the pic was found elsewhere on the web, or you didn't take it, post the link to the image address using the "Insert Image" icon from the advanced mode here - that way it doesn't look as if you are trying to take ownership of someone else's pic.

No need to screw around with an image-hosting website if you are a member - you paid for the privilege of uploading direct, go ahead and use it!

Side benefit of posting direct - no worries of the image-hosting website changing its policies or going tits-up and ruining all your posts...

I managed to post images from Microsoft OneDrive. You need to view the image online and then choose embed and then copy the link provided. To get to embed you need to click on the ... at the top. Worked for me first time out.

Speaking as a n00b, myself, I had the same question. The deal is that n00bs aren't allowed to post 'attachments' and you need attachments to post pics. Until such time as TPTB decree me old enough to post pics, I'll just post a URL.

Easiest and quickest way is tapatalk on your phone. Direct posting as they host the images

You don't need to attach an image to post a picture
you link to it,

ARRRGH! ....

I thought I had it figured out. I can post some images, but not others. The FAQ mentions 'attachments' and my profile says I can't post attachments - so I thought that was it.



Newest theory: it has something to do with the 'switch editor mode' button above the edit box.

"Smart" editors are thoroughly annoying - give me raw HTML any day, I can make that do what I want.

I think there's a bug in the editor - if I click "insert image" and enter a URL in the dialog box, I don't see an image. But if I click the 'switch editor mode' button and follow the same steps I do see an image.

Having written an HTML editor myself, I think I know what's going on. It's easy to get confused about what's content vs. what's markup vs. markup the user hand entered vs. content that just happens to look like markup.

The FAQ does need to be updated. Here's a quote, "On this page, below the message box, you will find a button labelled 'Manage Attachments'. Clicking this button will open a new window for uploading attachments." But I don't see a 'Manage Attachments' button, lower down on the same page I do see a box labelled 'Posting Rules' which states "You may not post attachments."

HUH ????? Ive never paid a nickle and post lots of pictures.

You can use the IMG if the picture is on a hosting site like flicker, photobucket, et all.

I use tapatalk on the phone as tapatalk is the host.

On my computer I use the post image on the menu bar

and the forum finds the hosted picture or the URL where it is online like this one

I am trying to start a build thread and I am having the same problem. Hard to do a build thread with no photo's. I wonder if there is a post count that you need before you can use the Attachments? It be nice to figure this out so that I could start my build thread.

You can if you buy a membership. It's been like that on this forum forever so I guess we're all used to it..

WHILE WORKING WITH YOUR PHOTO EDITING SOFTWARE, YOU WANT YOUR PICTURES TO BE NO LARGER THAN 1200 PIXELS IN EITHER DIRECTION!!!! PICS BIGGER THAN THIS ARE ANNOYING TO VIEW ON THE NET!!! Thanks!
