New Crawler...txt or Jugg?
 

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie to rc crawling, and after modifying and breaking my nylint 1:6 I decided I want something better. I have been looking at the TXt/juggernauts and I haven't really noticed the difference, minus maybe the tub? Which is better? any assistance would be appreciated.

Moved to Newbie.

The TXT is better IMO. It has a chassis that works great for crawling, especially after some cutting.

I have to totally agree with Bender. I have a TXT and it works great! The chassis plates can be modified for crawling very easily... get a hack saw and a dremel and a stock txt will crawl great after you lock the front and rear axles with JB weld (do that while your building it)... I could go on but i'll shut up now. :roll:

i would have to agree, TXT is the way to go

TXT is the way to go...plus you can get them...But with some work on the stock setup by cutting the tranny and by ditching the cantie setup you can have a very decent crawler by a gd-600 and run a stock can...so it will cost you only the truck and a gd-600 and you can a working entry level crawler...my buddies could compete in comps and that has the stock frame...and ALOT of tweaking...

But really it is all up to you for what you want.

I had a jugg a long time ago it was the first one it was when it first came out, IT WAS CRAP, all the gears stripped... what it was that was wrong i dont no? we got rid of it and since have stuck with clods....anyways the jugg 2 would probaly be a whole lot better then that one we had....but from what i have seen and looked up the txt is by far better!

I have a Jugg 2, and it is alright. I can't do the revo shaft swap with out buying the Txt shaft set and I don't have the sweet frame as the Txt. Instead I had to build a frame that I thought would work, and heavily modify my driveshafts for my 16 3/4 wheelbase. If you want a easily modifiable crawler, go Txt. If you want a challenge with modifing things, go Jugg 2. ( If I had to do over again, I would have bought a Txt, but Price drove me to the Jugg 2).

OK, here the deal.
the Jugg is an older brother to the TXT, other than a different set of upper axle cases, the Jugg2 and the TXT share the same drivetrain. the tranny from the Jugg1, Jugg2 and TXT are the same. I would stay away from the Jugg1 due to a design flaw in the pinion shaft on the axles causing them to chew up the upper gears quickly. the Jugg2 is a viable choice but it is discontinued.
the winner? TXT. I've been running my Jugg2 crawler for years (7 plus) and the only time I've had the tranny apart was for an e-maxx slider convert (w/ TXT shafts) and to put in twin lathes w/ 9t pinions, never broke or stripped a gear, and I don't baby it (driven intellegently). the axles have never been apart due to breakage.

CLODMAN, the original Jugg only had bearings on one side of the input shaft. That was the reason yours ate the gears. Jugg 2's and TXT's have bearings on both sides.


The Jugg 2 is discontinued, the TXT took its place. Get the TXT, you don't need to mod the cr*p out of it to crawl well. Just my thought.

Consensus says TXT. Although I would never own one of those :flipoff: :flipoff:
