Default Whats the difference between 1.9 and 2.2?

New guy here trying to do some research and figure out what I need.

What is the difference between the 1.9 and the 2.2? Is it only the tire size, and can a 1.9 be switched to a 2.2 by simply changing the tires?

I am looking at getting the SCX10 Ready To Run, Trail Ready rig. This is a 1.9, so could I just get different/bigger wheels and tires and make it a 2.2? Is this even necessary?

Thanks for any and all help.

1.9 and 2.2 is the outer diameter of the rim.

1.9 trucks run just fine and a little bit easier to build then the 2.2 trucks. The 2.2 trucks you have to worry about rubbing on fenders and high COG and etc.

Do what you want.

Thanks Justin!

So is the SCX10 Ready To Run, Trail Ready a good rig to get me started then?

Are there any other real differences between the 1.9 and 2.2 besides the tire sizes.

Thanks

If your looking at scale. I would say the Honcho is the best bet out of the box. very little to do to be comp ready and fully capable once you upgrade the pee outta it. You want be disappointed at all.

For comp trucks, I would have to say 2.2 myself. its much easier to manuver. but then there are so many choices one can go. Shafty seems to be a good starter point, but most have been switching to the MOA (motor on Axles config)
Not saying you cant be competitive with a shafty. Its actually my preference. in that I would say Billet Works Designs chassis's

Thanks team3six! I was looking at the Honch, but I like the fact the the other SCX10 cam with everything(minus batteries and charger) included and I could get it rolling faster and mod as I go.

Can I simply convert a 1.9 to a 2.2 by just changing the tires?

Thanks for the help here folks

Yeah you can put 2.2's on a honcho. Just have to trim the fenders quite a bit
