Wow... two years since the last post... All the tips and veiw points here a great. However, I find that the search options does little to find a thread that I posted on a few days ago, especially if I forgot the thread's heading lol, so I can go back for followup.

This is a large forum compared to the local one that I often visit mainly due to the fact that I meet up with those guys in person. However, I have found much more info and tips on this site, mainly via google searches, hense, why I singed up two years ago, and only have about 7 posts to date!!! (you don't need to sign in to search this site)

Anyway, is there some short cut to find the threads one has posted in? It would be nice to find them quickly for a followup.

Click on your name in the upper right hand corner.
Click the Statistics button.
Click the Find All Post By...

Is there a way to do an "AND" function with the search engine? I'd like to be able to search thread titles for "word1" AND "word2", such that the results return only the threads with titles containing both words.

I've tried many different ways of doing this and have searched the forum, but have not found an answer.

I admit to not getting the advanced search directions initially. It is now apparent that I just didn't know what I didn't know. I am still in the dark about most things, but was able to use the advanced search feature effectively today for the first time regarding a battery forward mod for a SCX10. Searching for the right thing, and particularly in the right forum, was great. Good work, forum guys.

Why is there a timeout between searches
 

Why is there a timeout of 60 secs between searches? This is very annoying, I am on a couple of other forums using the same software and they don't have the timeout between searches?

Google Advanced search will serve you far better then the search function.
https://www.google.com/advanced_search?hl=en&fg=1

2/3rds of the way down is search site/domain. Enter www.rcrawler.com then use all the other bells and whistles to get the info you need.

It takes a little getting used too, but once you use it I doubt you wont like it.

Using tapa talk, I have to search for the search function. Navigating to find it left me asking a few questions that no doubt left people rolling their eyes. All good now though. Thanks to all that helped. [emoji1303]

You can achieve similar results quickly with any web browser as well. In the google search box type:

site:rccrawler.com <search terms here>

Additionally it supports wild cards so you can do things like:

site:*.craigslist.org <search terms here>

and you will search all regions of craigslist.

I often have the best results searching OUTSIDE the forum, on Google.
Google will list a bunch of links that direct me to the Forum of my Choice (I am a member of at least 3 RC forums) or to YouTube.
Say what you want about Google, Love or Hate, but their programmers earn a crap ton of money to make sure their algorithms Work well.....
