Default New crawler king :)

Hey All

Newbie just got a Crawler King here :-)

Just wondering if its common that the acceleration can be quite juddery at slow speed? When I'm trying to climb its hard to keep at a constant pace because it keeps juddering all over the place!!

How can I fix this problem?

It sounds like it's geared too high and wants to accelerate, and you have to be super gentle on the trigger. Find out the size of the spur gear and pinion gear (most manuals include this info, and many having full gearing charts). I would suggest you get a smaller pinion. Smaller pinion means the engine must rotate more, before the spur gear does a full rotation. If your spur is around a 14, I'd probably try an 11. It's really a lot of preference and more art than science, but I'd get a couple different pinions, starting about 2 teeth less, going to maybe 6 teeth less, depending on stock pinion size. If the stock pinion is 14T, although it's more involved, you may want to get a little be bigger spur gear instead. This will give you more flexibility in the long run.

Good luck, and enjoy!
