Moa or chassi mount crawlers pros and cons Hi all, new to this forum and crawling. Just trying to get as much input as possible before purchasing. What are the pros and cons of moa or chassi mount crawlers in your opinions??? Would like to hear from you |
First real question......are you doing this for fun or looking to comp?? Second question......any basic range on price?? Third question.....new or used?? |
Right now just for fun crawling and bashing and if i really like it, maybe comp in the future. Don't want to buy whole new rig just upgrade if i ever do decide to join comp. Would like to keep in the $400 to $500 range. NEW IS ALWAYS GOOD, BUT A GOOD USED ONE WITH HOP UP PARTS AT A GOOD PRICE IS BETTER!!!!!! |
IMO I would go with something like an Axial AX10. They have great parts availability and they can be upgraded to be a pretty competitive comp truck. "thumbsup" |
For $400 - $500 you can get a good rig. The MOA Pros: • Crawls a lot better than an axle'd rig • All of the weight is low • Better traction with having weight directly on the wheels • No torque-twist • Easy control over dig functions MOA Cons: • More expensive/complicated • ... Axle Rig Pros: • Easier setup • Less expensive • More scale loosks (if you are into that sort of thing) Axle Rig Cons: • Torque Twist • Most digs require the truck to roll to engage • Top heavy (compaired to MOAs) This is just the short list. Recommend getting an Axial AX10 or LCC if you want to bash and think you might want to comp. |
I agree with Greatscott except for the AX10 part. I think the AX10 has had its day and now its gone as far as it being a comp rig. Im sure everyone on here could debate that untill the end of time. Im not saying Im right. Thats just how I feel about it. You cant go wrong with a LCC. It doesnt need a lot of upgrading great quality product. A XR10 will cost more to get it up and running, and needs some upgrades, but after the upgrades it will out perform the LCC. |

That is one thing I noticed about the sportsman class when I was judging it at our last comp, the LCC is a better sporty class comp truck out of the box. The Axial can be made into a good sporty, but you have to sink some money into it and have some time and know-how to adjust the TT out of it. |
