| 4 wheel steering mod how to ... where?
Hi all... I'm a car newb (not rc newb, helis, gliders, etc), and I ordered a cheapie nitrorcx Mad Torque to get my feet wet, and then getting sucked in I got the Airtronics Mx-3x tx with rx from amainhobbies (good price), as it seemed like 4 wheel steering would be fun. The Mad Torque has a servo mount for 4WS, but no 'upgrade kit' or list anywhere (support- you get what you pay for ). Any tips to what I would need to install the 4WS? Here is the spare parts page, maybe someone could give me some hints? I did try to search hi and low for a '4 wheel steering how to' by google and many sites including here, to no avail. I'm stoked on trying a crawler, I look forward to learning from all here. thanks in advance. Ben |

from the pics i believe all you need is the servo and the links just like you have in the front. just undo the two small links on the rear and attach links there. then hook up servo and radio and you are set the lil things on the rear axle (one each side) are just lockouts so the wheels don't turn when no rear steer is used http://www.nitrorcx.com/03c09-madtorque-orange.html 6th pic if need be you can make all your own steering linkage. just use the search Last edited by jokers_toys; 03-01-2011 at 01:31 AM. |

| so I need these?
thanks guys... now I'm gettin' it. so I need a servo mount: http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-mm2038.html and what else? steering tie rod? http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-mt2019.html steering rod linkage? http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-mm2018.html ok but what about steering arms? http://www.nitrorcx.com/mad-mm2008.html also where's the other rod, that connects the servo and the right front tire? I guess servo horns too. all the spares are here http://www.nitrorcx.com/masppa.html so any tips appreciated. I know, I know, I can just wait until I get it and then order the parts, but l'm a little ADD that way thanks for the tip on the vid... I watched it but not with concentration so I missed that part. you dont need the steering arms. or the plate for the servo, just the small plastic pieces to mount the servo to the plate. there are 2 different servo horns by the look of it. one is 23 tooth and the other 25 tooth. you need a servo (obviously). as for the 2 steering rods. i cant figure out which you need. either email or phone them would be best, or wait until you have the parts manual |

you can probably just use the links off a 1/8 maxstone same size and general set-up http://www.nitrorcx.com/18maxstrocr.html it has Steering Link for 7.50 and Conner Linkage for 9.95 and they have the Servo Mount with ears for 6.50 or just build the links |

You can get a "truck conversion kit" for $7.00 from Nitrorcx. Part # MT2016. It comes with ALL you need for rear sterring. Look on page #19 of your Mad Torque hand book, it's on the spare parts page also. You can pick Blue/Orange/Green. Last edited by XtrmTJ; 03-18-2011 at 08:57 PM. |

I don't know if the reverser is necesary. Tell me if I'm wrong, but if you don't put the reverser the car will do the crab-like walk, all you have to do is to put the servo arm upside-down and the wheel will turn inversely like the redcat RS10 third position. |

I just got done doing my rear steering and the turning radius is amazing now. it's easy to do, I ordered all the parts from the parts list page nitrorcx.com. I just feel that the servo is too high so that makes the short rod is too high and the ball end is pretty much out of room to move. I think im going to cut down the plasic stubs that the servo mount plate mounts to... atleast a 1/4" probably. I just used the y-link but I feel for crawling situations it would be much better if you can control front and rear steer on different channels.
