Personally I am more fond of the berg, I like the weight, I like the durability and its easy to set up. The xr10 is ok, but I don't like the horizontal front link mounts, the "BTA" set up wallows out over time, the tolerances on the gears are too tight and break bearings. The U-joints in the axle shafts wallow out. The axle housings start to bow then break and the stock wheels are way to wide as well the screws strip easily. I like the parts availability for the xr though, but sadly its need to much with my driving style. |

I have both a Berg truck and a XR-10 and compete regularly. From my experience the XR is the better buy since the only upgrades you need for durability with in reason is VP motor plates($40) and to get more steering you eliminate the slider and go to a solid tie rod($20) with VP knuckles($50). That is how I run mine and have had zero issues with it. To have a comparable Berg you will invest more money! It all comes down to what you want to get out of it. I left out a lot of details but that is it in a nutshell if you will. | |

This is a question that comes up on here and in my LHS. Ofcourse its going to be the XR. Anyone can build a kit, as long as you know what your doing. The cool thing is the rig can grow with you. I know ppl will say the gears break, blah, blah, blah. Mine are stock with over 100 hours on them. Half the time running 35t broods. I'm not very nice to the rig in anyway. I do have all the VP stuff for it and will say it is the reason the gears are alive at this point. I think the bergs are cool and all,but dont see a reason for someone starting out in MOA to have to take on a build like that. Get the axles, chassis, links, shocks, wheels, and so on separate. When you can have it all in the kit. Just dont do carpet digs and so on. That is the place alotof ppl are breaking gears, from what I see. Also, Rc4wd is come out with machined gears for the XR and they are only 39.99 per axle. Thats a nice price to bomb proof the XR.

I run a berg and i love it but i would recommend the xr10. most of the comps i have been to lately most people have switched over to the xr10. I would check at your local comps and see what everyone is running because i don't care who you are someone has helped you before. the easiest way to get help is to run what the local people in your area are running. Both the Berg or the xr10 is capable of winning if they are setup and driven well. |

I have both and i like them each serves its own but when you go to any national comp the bergs still seem to be winning.I do bielieve that may change though real soon and second off look who sponsors most every national event Axial. support those who support our sport.

| The second rig in the video is Dunns. His chassis design for the XR. Turkey crawl was his first comp with it I think. He rebuilt the axles on a flatbed truck bed in 30 degree weather the night before And kicked everyone's buttin the finals in the dark. Here is the video Last edited by Harvo; 03-08-2011 at 08:18 PM. |

Still, there is a method to his madness. He is using a XR for some reason.

Berg all the way every xr I've been around blows up or has major issues and why would you want a plastic truck?
