Scale build planning questions
 

I am planning a scale build using an EMaxx tranny and TLT axles. I will be using frame rails and not side plates. I want the tires to fit under the body so I as thinking 1/8th scale if possible. I need to know the following:

1. What real trucks use solid axles both front and rear and use leaf springs?
2. What bodies look to scale that are currently made to for trucks that meet the requirements in #1. I have a preference to Fords but am open minded if it looks good.

older wranglers and cjs leafs and any jeep is going to have solid axles. fj-40s use SA's and leaf springs as well as 1985 and older toyota pick ups. Alot of fords, chevy and dodge pick up trucks use solid axles as well... I wouldnt worry about if they definitely use a SA or not you can always say you did an SAS (solid axle swap) :mrgreen:

Check out pro lines bodies, they make an bunch of Ford Chevy and Dodge bodies, two of the most scale ones being the cj-8 and land cruiser but they are no longer made.

Parma makes some cool ones too like the old Ford pick up and chevy c-10

This is a Bronco I built about a year ago, It used a chassis like you want with the same axle/trans setup you described. It handled like a turd, and talk about having to cram the trans in:roll:.

If you can make it work better then me, more power to ya;-)

solid axles and leaf springs-

Jeep CJ's
Jeep YJ's (square headlight wrangler)
87 and older full size chevies
79 and older 3/4 and 1 ton fords
older (not sure on year) dodge pickups and power wagons
85 and older toyota pickups
toyota FJ-40's
Fullsize jeep pickups and wagoneers

79 and older ford half tons and bronco's had solid axles with leaf spring rears and coils in the front


I think for a scale project older fullsize pickup bodies, bronco, and jeep are your best bets

I wouldn't worry about what vehicles came with solid axles from the factory, almost every make/model of a truck has had something swapped in. There's a Kia on 35's over on Pirate.

Just pick a body that you think is cool, because a TLT axle doesn't resemble a Ford 9 or Toyota 8 anyways.
