| Need some help I'm trying to decide which tubing to buy for my trailer axle tubes. I will be using a 10mm bearing on each end. In your opinion or expertise which one would be a better fit. http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant...d=71&top_cat=0 http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant...d=71&top_cat=0 Last edited by kredfearn; 05-02-2012 at 07:17 AM. |

Your link is showing 2 different brass extruded rectangles...neither of which I would use.

If you are trying to fit the bearing inside, you will have a hard time with both. One is too small, and the other will allow too much slop for the bearing to fit securely and do it's job. You could open the smaller size on a lathe to fit the bearing, so if you or someone you know can do that, I would go with the smaller diameter tube. |

I was affraid of that just by looking at the numbers. My next question is... What would it do to the bearing or tube if I were to press it into the 9.75 ID tube without opening the end on a lathe? I asked the guys at work if they could do it BUT they didn't want to get caught doing non work realated stuff. |

| Re: Need some help You probably won't be able to get it to fit. It doesn't sound like much, but you will need a few thousandths clearance to get the bearing to fit...you are almost 10 thousandths too small.
