Default crawler gets chirppyles power/ help

I have a losi crawler with a 55 turn brushed motor. My speed controller died so I replaced it with a traxxas xl-5 waterproof one. It still crawls over rocks good but doesnt have quite the hill climbing power, and the motor gets real chirppy sounding when pushed hard. The motor also getting hotter. When the motor is wet it also gets weak and chirppy. what can I do?

A 55t brushed?!?! Wow....I am surprised it has lasted that long in the LCC. Most guys run brushless, but those that do run brushed are in the 35T range....

When was the last time you did some motor maintenance? Things like oil the armature bearings/bushings?
When you get the motor wet, do you make sure it's totally dry before storage? If not, the armature may be rusting and closing up the airgap to the magnets.

Basicly I waterproofed my rig using balloons, plasi-dip, and a traxxas xl-5. I was realy into waterproofing it but now i just want a reliable basher/crawler again. What brushed esc/motor set up would you recommend? Im into climbing hill/rock terrain, i thought lower turns mean lower torque.

No, usually it's quite the opposite.

I personally don't think it's your ESC. As was mentioned on here already, you've given indications of motor neglect/abuse, that should probably be the issue you rectify first.

Sqeaky: could be rust between the armature and magnets, yes. Could be a rusty armature shaft rubbing inside a bagged out bushing. Could be a bearing that has had its oil washed out and is now rolling around on rust. Could be a bearing that has siezed up, and now the motor shaft is turning inside of a dry bearing race.

Lack of power: could be a dirty commutator and/or brushes making for very limited electrical flow. Could be a binding issue from any of the above stated possibilities. Could be you hooked up the motor leads backwards to get it to run in the right direction, and now any timing that motor may have had is now a negative instead of a positive.

And it's almost pointless for us to reccomend a motor/ESC combo, because pretty much any motor, brushless or brushed, won't survive too well being "rode hard and put up wet".

55t will have more torque and less RPM,a 35T will have less torque but more rpm which is what the Losi comp crawler needs because of the gearing.

And my ex-wife survived being rode hard and put away wet cant say she looks as good as she used to
