Default Someone talk me out of....

Buying a torque master BR-XL..... 100 bucks... really need an LVC. since i'll be running lipo, only 2s right now. plans for 3-4s

Don't really want to use the AE-1 first gen ESC since the BEC is a little low, my servo would be stuck at 5v limiting future upgrades, however I'm only seeing a difference of

Stall Torque @ 5V: 208 oz-in (15 kg/cm)
Stall Torque @ 7.2V: 224 oz-in (16.1 kg/cm)

with the servo I've ordered. (will be upgrading again)

what to do, what to do...

So, Novak LVC with a Holmes Hobbies BEC still using the AE-1 ESC?

Or TM BR-XL?

or buy a used AE-2 ESC?

Asking us to talk you out of a BRXL is like asking us to talk you out of not shooting yourself in the foot.

Spending a bunch of money to patch up a junky esc is a waste, especially when you know you're going to have to upgrade it eventually anyway. Spend the money now and be done with it.

Being frugal is not the same as being cheap.

I agree with this 100%. No point in wasting money on an esc that will be replaced later. Think about it $100 esc now that will handle your BEC needs in anything short of a comp rig, or spend about $25-$30 for the BEC and however much for the LVC then replacing all that with the BRXL. Sorry but I'm with Duuuuuuuude.

Brxl for sure, the only esc that has Holmes hold, best drag brake out there. You won't be disappointed. It's all you could ever want in a brushed esc shoved into one package.

I'm with duuuuuude also and if u get the waterproof version u don't have to worry about keeping it dry or taking up space with a waterproof electronics box.. That's if ur a scaler if ur comping I don't guess waterproof matters.. And lately I've been seeing them in the classifieds for 70$ ... Also John is top notch at customer service and will gladly replace any faulty esc very quickly...I'd say bite the bullet and get the best...HH BRXL

The only way I would talk you out of it, is if you were buying and and I talked you into sending it to me. It is a great esc. And like others said, get the waterproof for a few dollars more. It is by far the best esc I have owned.

BRXL is the only ESC to have if you are running brushed motors.
