| New guy on the block lookin for some opinions
fellas im pretty new on the forums here. just got into RC stuff not long ago right now i have all Traxxas stuff. have a Nitro Rustler, and 3 Stampedes that i am building right now. but im thinking that i want to get a crawler next. im still fairly new to all this and dont really know much about the crawlers at all. what would you all suggest for a starter kit for a new guy to the crawler scene? i have looked at the Wraith and it looks really cool but just not sure and i know its really new and was wondering what some of you all might suggest. been lookin pretty hard at the Axial AX10 RTC package but have seen the kit that it comes with too thats missing some stuff radio and so on....which would be better for a rookie? thanks |

you cant go wrong with any of the axial products, plenty of upgrades & great C.S. but the electronics are so so. go thru some of the forums on here, tons of info on the different types of crawlers. WELCOME & good luck |

Welcome to your new obsession!!! There are a couple of different ways you can run in this niche of the hobby. If you are looking for a scale truck, I'd suggest the Axial SCX line of trucks. If you are looking at a full-on crawler, I recommend looking at the AX-10 (a newbie-friendly rig, but for the most part limited to the sporty class) or a Losi Comp Crawler (LCC); or a MOA rig like the Axial XR10 or Berg, they are a lot more capable, but the learning curve is a lot steeper. Check out the forums for each of these rigs, look at the builds... Just remember, the search button is your friend. |

It also depends on whether or not you want a rig you can turn into a good, solid crawler, the AX10, or if you still want to be able to go fast and pretty mush bash around, the Wraith. Let us know how you want to play and we'll give you a good direction.

thanks a bunc for the info everyone. i have some other RCs to bash around in and got a nitro car as well so got the fast car thing down too. now i want me a crawler...used to do some wheeling and the rock crawling was the best part of it...now that i have wife and kids and so on all the fun toys like that had to go. so now i get to live it through RCs the AX10 is the one i keep coming back to, i did check out the Wraith and it looks like a cool rig but not really what i want...i want something i can crawl a wall with so a Comp crawler is the way i want to go and the AX10 seems to fit the bill well. the only thing im not sure on is the RTC or to get a kit and put it all together myself. i have some spare Traxxas Radios so i could use that but wasnt really sure how much of a challenge it is to put the kit together. i havent ever dove into anything like that before and what all it would take to do other than the obivious battries, radio, crystals and so on. and i heard on another forum that the AX10 kit comes with some upgraded stuff thats worth doing the kit for |

| agreed, sooner or later your gonna have to do repairs/upgrades, building the kit will put you ahead of the game of how the truck is put together. the instructions are straight forward and simple, and building is half the fun |

Thanks a bunch fellas....thats what i was wanting to know. still tryin to sift through some of the threads to see which radios,ESCs motors and so on work the best. this is something i know nothing about. with all the traxxas stuff i have which is 3 Stampedes and 1 nitro Rustler its all about speed and so on with the crawlers it seems to be more about torque than anything so im kind of a little lost on all of that stuff as which to get to start off with |

When I started, I did the Traxxas Nitro Rustler. Seen some guys crawlin. Thats all it took. I was hooked. Got me the AX-10 kit. Scared the hell out of me. 1000000000000000000000000 parts. What am I gonna do? Got the dummy sheet out & went to town. I had a hell-of-a-time. The most fun I had in a long time. Did alot of up-grades to it, but i wasn't happy. Drove a Berg & loved it. Then the Losi Comp. Crawler came out. Got it & wasn't happy with it. It was already put together. That's half the fun. Did some up-grades to it, & still not happy. Broke down & built a Berg. Love it. Now, I'm building a Ti-Fighter (waiting on axles). It just depends on what you want to do. Comp. or wheelin. Comp. go with a Berg. Wheelin, go with the AX-10. Most of all Welcome to crawlin & have FUN. |
