LiPo charging?
 

Maybe this is a stupid question, but something got stuck in my head about charging a LiPo battery.
Can you put the LiPo in the charger and leave it over the night or must I calculate the time it has to be charged and then remove it?

I think I have read this somewhere or is that with an old/cheap charger?
Or is the charger smart an just continue with some maintenance charge until I remove the LiPo?

For a family father it's easy to forget things like the charger when the kids are crawling around your legs ;)

A lipo should never be left on charge unattended.

U shouldn't leave the battery just charging cause they can start a fire and or blow up. It sucks trust me...

In rare cases lipos can catch fire. 99.9% of the time they just puff up and no longer take a charge when they go bad. I check mine 2-3 times during charging and unplug it when it's finished. It's nothing to loose sleep over but better safe then sorry.

Ok, but if I use a LiPo bag it will be a little bit safer if I forget the charger?

Honestly. Just stop the charge if you want to go to bed. Start the charge again the next day.
You don't have to stand there watching it charge but awake and aware of what's going on is ideal. Checking every few min etc.

YouTube "lipo bag fire" some are NOT fire proof. I use lipo bags for storage only. Even then my lipo bags are in a metal tin.

Way better off safe then sorry. We dont need an another anchief or clodstall on our hands...

As a "family father" safety should be your number one concern (just my $0.02)

Like mentioned above you don't want to leave a lipo unattended for long when charging. Its well worth spending a bit of time searching around online about lipo safety, what not to do's etc. I haven't had an issue myself and have been running lipos in several rigs for years but there are risks and you need to learn what your dealing with for sure.
I use an old .50 cal ammo box to store mine, works great. Also I rarely ever charge over 1c regardless of what the batteries max charge rate is. Lastly use a good quality lipo balance charger, that alone can save you from many possible issues.
