| What would you buy...
Hi Guys.. I've got $150 spare cash to spend on my AX-10. But don't know what to buy.. I've JunFac drive shafts on the way so , I'm OK there.. Allready got a front 4 link plate fitted, rear is on the way , aswell as a Proline Tuber Cage / New Rim's in the mail .. Just had a new 21t Motor fitted along with a new ESC so I can run Li-Po's.. Don't need Shocks,as I've just fitted Traxxas T-Maxx alloy Shocks and done the Cap Mod , Could do with softer springs as the stock red ones seem abit stiff to me... So What should I buy next... Would prefair to buy all in one shop / store to save on mailing over to Ireland ... Sean... . Last edited by West Cork Basher; 11-10-2011 at 04:13 AM. |

You didn't mention tires. Rovers or Sedonas are a serious upgrade. A powerful steering servo is also very important.

Another vote for Rovers and a good servo. You might consider going with a high turn motor, a 35T will provide a lot more torque without sacrificing too much wheel speed. In addition to the motor you might want to consider: *BEC *Chassis (GC-3A is a good choice) *Lipo's if you don't already have them *Aluminum C's and Knuckles *Upgraded gears for your transmission I wouldn't just spend money cause you have it, run your crawler and figure out the weak spots or characteristics you would like to change and then upgrade. |

Thanks Guys for your replys... My Ax-10 will be more of a Rock Racer then a pure crawler, low buget FOFF sort of thing.. thats why it has a Ansmann 21t Drift Motor with 54tSpur / 14t Pinion , on 32 pitch.. using 1800mAh Li-Po's , ESC is a (12t limit) with Li-Po cut off and a Low Voltage Li-Po alarm fitted as well . . Steering Servo is a BMS-616DMG+HS Digital Buggy Servo (MG) 10.2kg / .12sec / 46.5g from hobbyking but if that does brake I've a Hitec 645MG in my spares box.. Tyres I've a set of Tamiya ViseCrawler, thats why I've bought some new Rims.. Tyres fitted on Rims at the moment ,nothing wrote on them ( I forgot the name ) maybe some can help , name these tyres Ansmann 21t Drift Motor.. 54t Spur / 14t Pinion.. Mirrored Tranny.. I wanna keep the stock chassis as the Proline Tubber Cage will be fitted as soon as it arrives.. If I go for Alloy C's and knuckles , Do I have to fit Beef Toods as well.. Thanks.. Sean... , Last edited by West Cork Basher; 11-10-2011 at 05:07 PM.

You won't "need" toobs, but they are never a bad idea. You might also look into the heavy duty over drive ring and pinions for the axels since you are going for some speed. |

Considering the rock racer direction, I would strongly recomend the tranny gears, those plastic gears will only hold up so long. Or maybe a RC4WD 2speed tranny. I alway thought that would be THE setup for a rack racer

Up-gradeing the tranny sounds like the best idea.. I'd be buying this Axial AX10 Hard Steel Center gears ( SSCP1000T) eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace But would I need this aswell , I think this goes in the tranny to drive the shafts... but not to sure Axial Hard steel diff locker gear ( SSCP38X) eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace or is it this instead.. Axial AX10 Scorpion steel lock diff hub spool SCP125 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2708466915...84.m1438.l2649 Sean... . Last edited by West Cork Basher; 11-10-2011 at 05:21 PM.

since your going for speed, I think you should get the beef toobs. A well worth the money upgrade. also, you could get just the overdrive gear in the front axle and leave the rear stock, that's how I have my scaler and wraith axles set up. it helps to track straight at speed, improves steering and helps when climbing. |

It looks good! I recently upgraded my comp crawler to a sensored brushless set up. I have torque plus speed when I need it. Behind the axle steering is something that has sparked my interest now.

The listings of gears you linked all appear o be HR products, there is a general dislike for those. Look for Robinson Racing Transmission gears if you can find them in your neck of the woods. And it is the middle transmission gears you want, axle gears are already steel and less likely to go.

Why don't people like HR ? is there something wrong with there product? Surely being made of steel instead of the stock plastic gears is a hugh improvment... Sean hpi

I don't have a comment in regards to your rig but I did notice where you are from. My Granny was from Co. Cork and I still have some distent family who lives there including a 2nd or 3rd cousin Brian (I am also Brian) who owns a little mom and pop store there. As for the crawler, I think steel gears is a good move. I personally never had an issue with HR gears though some have. I would also consider limiting your shocks some if your going more for the FOFF thing rather then crawler. |

Cork even as a county is not very big... As for the shocks , I've Traxxas T-Maxx Shocks with stock red springs (30w oil) there about 1/2" shorter than the Ax-10 shocks Sean. .
