clod stall

what is clod stall?
is that where one axle turns and the other doesnt in a bind? how do i fix it?

The lions share the power is going to go the axle experiencing the least resistance, causing the other axle to partially or completely stall. Most drivers use this to their advantage but if you run two esc's, and have the correct tx, you can control it and get an even larger advantage. The M3 esc is the only single esc that can do this (that I know of), but I've found that most drivers will use 2.

so i need a second esc to make it go away? i want all 4 tires to turn when i pull the trigger.

you could just get a 13t pinion for the front and a 14t pinion for the rear. that would help
or get a faster motor for the front 35t and 45t for the rear (same pinon count)

Is this for a MOA (dual motor rig)?

If it's a MOA, do you run dual ESC's or a single ESC with a "dig"?

There are a few ways to "fix"/lessen clod stall.

Change timing on the motor
Change pinion gear (different gear front & rear)
Change settings in dual ESC's
ETC.

I had terrible clod stall when I first went moa and tried every trick on here. Every rig is different but this is what I ended up with...

same turn motors f/r
one tooth higher in the front
higher degree timing in the rear
heavy springs on the front motor/lighter springs on the rear motor

This setup didn't eliminate the clod stall completely but it's to the point that's it's no longer an issue.

its a moa and my electronics, motors, and gears are stock. how would clocking the axle help?

In this context, clocking your axles won't help anything. In other contexts, clocking the front will change how your rig steers and clocking the rear will get the motor up and out of the way, but will also screw with your CG.

Clocking axles has an effect on CoG/CG & handling, it has NOTHING to do with clod stall.

thats what i was thinking but as i am a total noob, i wasn't sure if there was some secret that i didn't know. so what everybody's saying is to get more powerful motors and change the pinion gear teeth?

Just try the pinions first...it's a cheap enough trick, if it doesn't work, you're only out a few bucks. What motors (how many turns) are you running?

+1, pinions 1st.

Differences between ESC's, different wire length (ESC to motor), variations between motors, different gear mesh, etc., all can help/hurt clod stall.

i have no idea what turn my motors are. is there a way i can measure them? whatever comes stock in a madtorque.

No real way to know the motor turns if:

It's not on a label outside
Stamped/engraved on the shaft
Printed on the armature

Yes, some are fairly common for a specific rig that comes as a RTR or ARTR set-up. I have no clue what a MadTorque comes with stock.
