Hi guys.

I am interested in picking up a rock racer (preferably the Wraith but open to the SCX10).

I have an extra Traxxas XL5 ESC and a 12turn Titan motor in my garage. Also, I have an extra Traxxas Link receiver to hook up with my Link radio on my 4x2 slash vxl.

My question for you is, with the electronics that I have, is it possible to throw these in a rock racer? I know the receiver will be fine as it is two channel, but I can get away with the above esc and motor?

Any recommendations would be great too.

Thanks!

Well what speed do you want it to go? And do you still want to be able to crawl? Do you want to run lipo? How much are you looking to spend? Fill us in on the desired end result and we'll be able to help more.

I am looking for a bit of everything - I want it to have good speed through trails, be able to crawl, and run lipo. I could pick up an external LVC too.

I am not adverse to getting the RTR but I want to know if it is a better bet in the long run. The difference in price is only about $50 for the Wraith or the SCX10. By going with the RTR I can get out there immediately and not have to worry about installing different parts. I am open to either though, RTR or kit.

Both a great rigs. I had to have one of each.

If your solution to obstacles is precise approach and finesse, you want an SCX.

If your solution to obstacles is more throttle, you want a Wraith.

And whichever you decide, do yourself a favor and pickup a kit.

Thanks for the reply guys. I am thinking I am going to like the Wraith more. I like the speed aspect of it, although I can understand how the SCX would be really fun tactically.

Hmm, decisions, decisions!

well...ive seen both (i have a scx10 friend has the wraith) and i just feel the wraith is to wide. I feel your better off with an scx10 if you like the scale look and want to run a body over the wraith tube chassis look. Also yes get the kit wraith kits can get had for 250$ on eBay normally with free shipping just look for the ''make off'' ad's and you can sell the wheels and tires ect as most people do since there not bead locks and tires are not all that great and get about 40 back out right away if you use your own wheel/tires. Tho as far as cash goes for 250 you can get a rtr scx10 with some hop ups in the for sale section or through eBay.

$250 for the RTR SCX10 huh, not bad? How are the stock electronics with it?
