Default Newbie with a Safari Shock issue

Hey guys just returned to the RC crawling scene. i had a Nylint jeep about 5 years ago and when it broke I let it go till now. I just bought a Venom Safari and the shocks have very little compression and only a little rebound. The internal spring is not allowing my suspension to articulate as it should and it has absolutely no "droop". I pulled out the internal spring and as expected I have endless travel but no stability. What is a good cheap fix to this issue?

Keep the internal spring in. I don't understand what you're problem was with it in. Care to elaborate a little more?

With the internal spring inside the shock when you pick the truck up or it starts to climb anything the axles will not "droop" at all, they will only compress up and have no decompression from normal ride height. Because of this I only have about 40 degrees of articulation. They advertise 70 for this thing and it has no where near that. I want to make this into a scale rig the best it can become I know having it be on a comp platform takes some of that away but im hoping i can find a body to try and cover the tires somewhat. Also the rear drive shaft broke after only 20 minutes with this thing and no binding kinda of starting to piss me off.

you need stiff springs in the rear, and no internal springs !

I based one of my scalers off the Creeper Safari with a home built frame. I took the internal springs out and it made all the difference in the world.

Should I use the Monster GT springs or T-Maxx springs? I have both trucks broke down in my basement that i can salvage for some parts right now. Do you have any pics of the finished product?? I am very curious as to how it worked out for you.

I used Axial coils from my AX10 and mounted them separate from the shocks.

I have since re-done the frame as is was a bit tall for my liking, but it crawled extremely well until the Venom motor burned up.

Cool. I put on the T-maxx springs and it seems like that will do the trick. I'll be taking it out tomorrow for a trail run.

Just run the internal spring on top for your ride hight and don't put the bottom spring in

well i had the ride height is to high set up like that so I took out the internal spring and put some T-maxx coils on and that should do the trick I hope. It being as high as it was caused the driveshaft to break because the angle was to much since I have the Dig unit so the rear shaft is super short. Im thinking about getting some SCX-10 shock hoops and mounting the shocks on those and the lower link mounts.
