Default Looking to build scale crawler. Hilux body. Help please

Hey Guys,
I just recently built a maxx sized crawler. But since I've started I've had my eyes on these scale crawlers.

I just recently picked up an older 1980 toyota pickup and would like to make a scale rig close to it.

Now I don't know where to start. I would like a truck that climbs easily and has great articulation. I'd also prefer to use a maxx trany. I know most pople use the old tamiya parts but they seem very spendy. Is there a cheaper route? (chassis, diffs etc..)

What would you recommend? and on an estimate how much you think I'm looking at for a complete rolling frame?

Also one more question. Anyone know where I can pick up a body like these below?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. I hope this becomes my next project.

That Green truck happens to be mine, thats the "Trekker" . The Body is from a Bruiser/Mountaineer/hilux (although hilux has a stepside bed). The bodies nor the trucks are cheap, a rolling chassis with body will run you between 500-1000$. If you are looking for a just a body expect an easy 100-300$ If you are looking for a scale chassis, Ddiaz makes a really scale looking Bruiser frame chassis and makes it available to mount an emaxx trans, this chassis typically is built with leafs but you can 4 link it. I would also highly recommend a bb-51 by Unimoger "montana scale designs" which is a very scale ladder frame chassis that is light and offeres great articulation and a scale look. Look up Ben in the Vendors section. There is also Pjs chassis and B&C customs who also make nice ladder frame chassis too. If you have any Bruiser questions feel free to PM me, I have 6 of these trucks and have had many others over the years...I know them like the back of my hand. Good luck with you build

pj410 csc-1, ddiaz, Unimoger bb-51, thats all the scale chassis on here that i know of! as for the body i want one too since a i have a 81 p/u on 35's but that price tag is a bit much! Nikko made a r/c truck with a 1st gen body, but they are also hard to get ahold of!

Seems like alot of scale frames. which one would you all suggest and y?

I'd assume these use TLT axles correct?

Yes most of them will use tlt axles, as they are inexspensive and readily available. Some use bruiser axles but its very costly and they are not as strong IMO, plus the front, stock, uses one way hubs so you dont have 4wheel drive in reverse unless you run rear hubs all around which in return puts more stress on the inner axle.

I would recommend any of the ones listed, they are all good guys and make a nice product

personally i would pick the csc-1, IMO it looks the most scale, but if you look these up in the vendors section you can see what they all look like!

Deffinatly go with the tlt axles, parts and everything are easy to get for them! And i hear some company im not sure were or who is makin a 1st gen picup body with lexan but this may just be a rumor! If i find out i will let u no!

Neither of your links go to anywhere that shows the axles for sale... can you elaborate?
