Default Basics

Most everything has been ordered and is being built or in transit. User Name and I are building these trucks. We wanted cheap but good enough. We aint making crap, so nothing's custom.

Tracer Chassis from Junfac

Electronics and servos (All Hitec RCD):
2 – Hitec HS-645MG servos
Hitec RCD HFX-R 3 channel ESC with reverse
DCX 3 channel Receiver
Hitec Aggressor CRX 3-channel Radio

tires: Moab 2.2
Wheels: HPI super star

More details added when I know them.

I am building these crawlers with 1tom2go and wanted to explain his idea with this thread.
We got hooked on RC crawling with the cheap Nylint crawlers. (get a rope ) and they just were not cutting it for us. So we started cruising this forum and decided to build some crawlers. We went to SEVERAL local hobby shops and were told that it was all "custom" stuff that we couldn't buy. After a little research, we found that you could indeed "buy" everything you needed to build a crawler more capable than the Nylint.
So after we are done with the bolt on build, we will start working on a custom build.

You can build an SW2 chassis with all off the shelf parts that will smoke that junfac chassis

Default Right O

Yeah the SW2 was the other choice, but we just picked one that we thought would do the job with the stock tranny. Of course this is only the tip of the iceburg. The Bender may be better, but we got Tracer coming. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Default TLT Arrives

We got the TLT kits. Put together axles. Used the technique descibed here http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=482 to lock rear and front diffs.

Now working on tranny. I ran into a snag when I broke the bolt that goes through the center ball diff. So now I am checking my options. maybe bed time.

Default Hitec delivers the goods

We got a box of Hitec goodies yesterday. Radios and receiver, esc, and servos. YEAH! Also, picked up some Team Integy 55T motors.

Only waiting for one more big item, the Tracer chassis.

so your idea was to use all available bolt on parts? hmm... sounds familiar , i did the same kinda build on my tlt only i used a penguin carbon fiber chassis, longer links and bolt on longer driveshafts, my wb came out to 10.5" it was really neat ,for a week , then i went and bought an xrc chassis . Good luck with your project

Tlt build
Check it out

Default thanks

thanks trikster. What I need now is time to build. I am still waiting for the chassis, but putting together the TLT stuff. I have put together the axles, tranny, and a few other things.

Glue is not just for sniffing, it also replaces broken screws!

Default things are getting there

User Name and I are starting to get somewhere with the builds. We are still waiting for the Junfac Tracer chassis. I couldn't stand it, so I put together a stock TLT to play with. Everyone is right that it is VERY top heavy. So, stock is weak and won't do much. I do like the possibilities with this little monster. It can climb well, until it tips over.

User Name is in Santa Cruz now and picked up our 1:10 bodies. He got a jeep to be like his 1:1 jeep. I got a Ford Courier because I liked what people like 4u2c, Unimoger, and rbgerrish did with it and I used to have a 1:1. User Name also picked up some 12 tooth pinions. Things are getting better, but I know it's boring.

Default TLT Center Dif

I CA glued the center dif and it seems to be holding up. I have only gone out for one test run. Hopefully this is the last time I mention the thing.
