| Please help start my build
I am very tech saavy when it comes to the 1:1 world, but have very limited knowlege when it comes to the scaled domain. I want to build a scale version of my 1996 Jeep Cherokee (XJ). I have found the body that I am planning on using: Proline 1992 Jeep Cherokee Body The 1992 Cherokee body is exactly the same as the 1996, so I am set there. I would like to purchase a kit, and I'm not sure what I should be looking at. Should I even go with a kit? It seems to be the most budget friendly way to go, but what do I know? I was looking at the Axial Wraith and SCX10 kits as well as the RC4WD TF2 kit. Here's the catch, to be as close to the 1:1 as possible, I want to run coils in the front and leafs in the rear. So if I buy a kit, there are many parts I would end up not using (body, front or rear suspension, etc.). Please give me some direction... |

Axial honcho rtr (unless you have electronics already). Rcbros rear leaf spring conversion for scx10. $20 spent on a star here would also save a ton of money (you could see/buy from the classifieds). Or it would allow you to sell/trade the extras you don't use. |

There are plenty of XJ build threads in the 1.9 and SCX10 sections.Let search do the work for you. I built mine with the Axial Honcho but did not do leafs on the rear. Be sure to post up when you start your build. |

If it were me i would get a scx10 dingo kit. (dingobis the right wheelbase for the cherokee. Sell the rear 4links stuff from the kit to partly pay for the rcbros leaf kit. Sell the dingo body to buy the xj body. Buy a star here so you can post a wanted ad for Tekin FXR esc, 45t motor, cs170 servo, and a cheap rx/tx combo. Get building. You will probably not like the electronics in the RTR scx10 anyways. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |

Here's a good thread to look at and remember the kit doesn't include any electronics. If I was you, I'd look in classifieds for a used scx10 (dingo or honcho) that is already set up ready to run with an upgraded motor and electronics and build from there...fyi the honcho and dingo are the basically the same except for the wheelbase (which is changed by using different links) so don't let that affect your decision...you'll be changing the length to match the new body anyway.
