New to crawling recommend a crawler

I am new to crawling, I had a basket case wraith that I ran about ten min and immediately sold it. I like the scale look but also like the looks of the gmade r1, I have a mmp esc, a 55t axial motor, spektrum radio, just need a kit crawler and servo to get me going. I like the idea of building it myself and have the skills to do so. I want something I can crawl with but if I'm feeling frisky I can swap the motor and or gears and get a little (15-20mph) speed out of. I also don't want to have to put a bun of upgrades into it day one. Budget for the crawler/servo is about $350

The SCX-10 dingo kit would be in your budget range. You can find it in the $235 range RPPHobby.com with the coupon codes.

What was wrong with the wraith? Those are great rigs.... Very capable crawlers with some free tweaking and your 55t motor....

Wraith was permanently modified to the tune of $200 to make it look good again, hacked chassis, lowered with some custom brackets and some junk 4" shocks. I ordered new Integy aluminum shocks and motor along with castle bullets and a new set of axial 12mm hexes the day I got it... Wraith is gone and the parts will be here on the 17th lol all well glad they aren't too wraith specific

I see. Well, if your wanting something more capable and less scale, go with the g-made.if your wanting something more scale and less capable, go with an scx-10 platform. Both are in kit form and you can use the parts you have with on them.

I have been eyeballing the g-made r1, and it's under budget enough to upgrade the reportedly junk driveshaft setup along with a nice savox or hitech servo.

Pulled the trigger on the gmade r1 kit.

I personally didnt like the gmade, first because of all of the phillips head screws and second I found the turning/steering radius to be quite lack-luster. Make sure when you build it you use plenty of lock-tight goo, as your kit will loosen up rather quickly. Good luck though!

I have heard both of these complaints before so I ordered an rcscrewz kit and I guess I'll just have to deal with the turning radius but it's ok because it's just for fun and nothing more. If the steering is too bad I'll add rear steer and or dig.

Axial SCX-10. This is the only way to go. Period!!! For a scale rig you get what you pay for!!! Perfect for the money you spend!!!
