| What moa's are available?
I was thinking about getting an moa but it seems the only one available now is the rc4wd bully. Am I missing any? I like the xr10 but it is no longer available.

Yea, The xr10 kit is discontinued. Parts are still readily available, most people ditch most of the kit and just use the axles anyways ( me included) Build/buy some axles and get a custom chassis or some thing along those lines and go from there! TONs and tons of info on this forum!!! Or stock XR parts are fairly easily to come by in the classifieds/ for sale section on here! Another option is berg axles ( berg v1s are a really popular moa axle on this forum) frequently pop up in the classified section on here as well! Good luck! The classified section is your friend. Get your post count up to 30 posting worthwhile comments and questions in the tech sections (that or buy a star $20). The $20 is the fast way to do it, but you'll want to get the reading in to figure out what you want. Then stay on top of the classified adds and buy something up. My first rig I built from a xr10 kit a little over a year ago. The thing would have stayed fairly stock until I started competing with it. the only two stock pieces (out of the kit) that are still on the rig.... one straight rear axle and the bottom half of the front and even that's due for a change here soon. I still use the FXR's that I put in it and the Sedonda's are just about wore out, everything else I beat the crap out of (servo, tekin 45ts, BEC). The initial build and the upgrades have been super fun, so I wouldn't necessarily trade that off either, but is hard realizing I've paid for nearly everything twice on that particular comp crawler.

Taiwan sellers are still selling brand new xr10 kits on eBay. Dlux sells complete carbon fiber and delrin berg axles. Exceed sells a berg style axle/crawler.

RC4WD makes BULLY axles (look for the comp axles) and RedCat Racing makes the RS10 (that was my first moa, I still have it, lot of fun for the money)

On tcs they had just the berg axles v1 for 200 or v2 for 250 or the kit with shocks links frame for 350. What would be my best bang for the buck if I wanted to get into some comps?

V1 has the best aftermarket support (v2 and v3 have near zero). I prefer xr10s over the v1 bergs I used to have. Both are great axles though.

Hot Racing also makes a Berg clone MOA axle. Most of the Berg upgrades will work with the Hot Racing Pieces. Hot Racing Axial AX-10 Scorpion Crawler RC Car upgrades and Hop-ups Hot Racing Axial AX-10 Scorpion Crawler RC Car upgrades and Hop-ups Hot Racing Axial AX-10 Scorpion Crawler RC Car upgrades and Hop-ups Hot Racing Axial AX-10 Scorpion Crawler RC Car upgrades and Hop-ups Available here: Rear Axle $60 http://www.hobbyetc.com/item.cgi?par...ipBFjdhooGkjiA or in black http://www.hobbyetc.com/item.cgi?par...ipBFjdhooGkjiA Front Axle $90 http://www.hobbyetc.com/item.cgi?par...ipBFjdhooGkjiA or also in black. http://www.hobbyetc.com/item.cgi?par...ipBFjdhooGkjiA The rears dont need any parts, the fronts you'll need to provide a set of Axial Knuckles and Outer Axles for Dog Bones. That would get you started and then you could upgrade from there. True Berg Axles are GREAT for upgrading, but plan on some machine work and don't be afraid of getting out the drill and maybe doing some fab work to make the parts work. XR-10 axles, the parts are getting a little harder to find, but can still be built. These are bolt on parts, little to no fab work required. Last edited by bigstu; 08-09-2013 at 12:34 PM. |

Pretty much, these guys are telling you to stay away from KITs. buy a set of axles, buy a chassis off a vendor on this forum (which would usually come with links) then a set of shocks and there's your kit. Which depending on the setup is 30 million times better than buying some off the shelf kit. The XR10 was good for about 5 minutes until the bearings failed and you already were buying VP parts.

I sell 3 base types of MOA on my site. Berg, Exceed and Dlux. There are also just about every option on the site that you can add on to see price or just see the options to answer questions you may have or help you ask questions that you need to. |
