Default Some axles.

Hello everyone, i have a set of axles that have motors mounted directly on them, i dont know what kind they are i dont know much about them at all, i found them in a box full of rc stuff, i got them all mounted for testing wired them up, and they have very very little torque, i was wondering if i could just replace the existing motor with a higher turn, and if that would give me the torque i need to crawl with them. here are some pics of the axles, if anyone has any information on these axles it would be greatly appriciated. thanks.

They look very similar to Tamiya Grasshopper / Lunch Box rear axels except where the motor mounts. If I had to guess I would say they are Radio shack??

Uh, are they both like that? If so, how are you gonna steer?

Cheers 8-)

Well first off this is not a Radio shack axle. This is from Tamiya, as for what model I am not totaly sure. I have a Lunch box and a Midnight pumpkin, with a simular set up.

In this picture of king_crawlers axle you can see an axle pin first clue not from radio shack. The screw attachment point about in the middle of the axle is where a plate was mounted for shocks and mounts. In the next picture shows my Midnight pumpkin with it in place.

In his next picture here you can see on the left side rim that there are screws and nuts on the inside, this is also from Tamiya not Radio Rhack. It is Tamiyas 3 piece wheel and the tire is from the Black foot truck they had thoses knobs on them.

Here is another shot of my Midnight Pumpkin It shows the same traits as king_crawlers axle.

If you have two solid axles it would not be hard to modify them for steering, if you need help let me know and I will help where I can.

The finned motor "basket" looks very Nikko to me.
Most of the hobby grade stuff didn't worry about a little kid touching a hot motor.

The 3 piece wheels with the screws have been done by Nikko as well.

I have never seen tamiya tires with "BIG BEAST" on the sidewalls.
Both Radioshack and Nikko have used that same tread pattern.

I think most of Nikkos stuff was built by taing a Tamiya vehicle and producing a smaller, cheaper knock off.

Tyco, Nikko, or Radio Shack.

If you look at the tires and wheels, you can see that the width to height ratio is wrong for any wheel tire combo Tamiya makes.

Like it has been said, plastic basket screams cheap R/C. They put those on because those R/C's are ment for 5 year olds that don't understand an electric motor gets hot when you stall the truck for 10 minutes on a rug.

Look at the stickers on the motor basket, one more tell tail sign of Radio Shack R/C.

Look at the webbing on the Grasshopper/Lunch Box axles compared to king_crawlers axles. Tamiya uses the same parts on multiple vehicals for the past 20 years or more. Why would they change the case for this one truck.

My kids $15.00 Target R/C Porsche has 2 peice wheels that are screwed together.

Yeah, its definatly from a radio shack truck. Next time I go to our other place, I can get a couple pics posed the same exact way, and even with those same tires and wheels. And if they were axles from a HG truck, don't you think one of them would have steering?

Yep, Radio Shack for sure.

It could be an okay crawler, just don't expect it to do what a hobby grade R/C will do and you will be fine.
