A good rule of thumb is to charge at 1C, which equates to 5.5 amps for that battery if your charger is capable.

And yes, it is normal for LiPos to decrease in amps as they get towards the end of charging. So if you look over and your charger displays 0.03 amps, and you know you set it for 5, don't freak out, it's probably just getting to be about done. Your voltage is far more critical than the amperage, though, in my opinion. Make sure you charge a 2S battery with a 2S program and you should be golden. What did you wind up getting? Did you go hard case, or soft side on that battery? Did you get any kind of checker? Balancer? Last edited by Trubble; 11-10-2013 at 03:02 AM. Reason: Typical your/you're violation. | |

While some LiPO's say they can charge at rates higher than "1C", I just recommend sticking to a "1C" rate. A 1C rate means it will take ~1 hour to fully charge a pack, longer if you balance charge. Some chargers don't have enough charge amps to go above 1C on large capacity packs. Example, a 5000mah pack @ 2C charge rate would need 10Amps from the charger. |

That's fine if you like waiting, but I don't have that kind of patience.

Good thing you're not using a 230 to charge a pack as large as the OP, then. With an internal limit of 7 amps, long wait times on larger mAh packs are a way of life. And with only 50 watts on deck, the only time it'll have enough legs to hit that number is on a discharged 2S (7 amps x 7.0 volts= just about the end of what that charger can produce). And as the voltage comes up you the amps will slip. By the time the battery's up to 8.3 volts, that charger will be struggling to put out 6 amps. Barely enough power for 1C charging. You can understand, then, why my 2S / 13,500mAh pack doesn't see much use. Pity the poor soul who tries to charge a large capacity 3S! Works real well on my 3S/1,300mAh crawler packs, though. |
