Diff fluids, grease ... Can you put oil in a diff that has grease, and seal it so water and other contaminates in the axle. I don't have a crawler yet, just wanting to get my ducks in a row. I would think that oil would be better than grease, but I am a NOOB! |
Re: Diff fluids, grease ... It's hard enough keeping oil in shocks, which were MEANT to hold it. Much less in diffs, that would depsoit that oil all over everything. Very simple. |
Re: Diff fluids, grease ... diffs don't get hot enough to need oil in them, grease does them just fine. I use silicone caliper grease. it's cheap and effective |
Re: Diff fluids, grease ... Good luck with that. Years ago, assembling my first AX10 kit, I thought it would be neat to "seal the axle housings with RTV and fill the axles with Lucas Gear oil additive, which is quite thick. I severely underestimated how much the housings flex when their being romped on. The result was a truck that marked it territory everywhere it went for almost two years till I toredown the axles. |

More important is waterproofing the electronics imo |
