Default Can tubers be competitive????

I just got finished reading "The Year in Review". I noticed it stated that tubers are being replaced in comps with chassis like SW2. I am just getting into the hobby and I would like to build a tube chassis. So can a built right tube chassis be competitive? Or should I build a tuber for fun and buy a SW2 for comps. Thanks in advance for your input.

BTW: I am using my Emaxx for parts IE: Diffs, Tranny etc..

I'd ask the two top 5 2.2 tuber finishers at the Nat's...

(gimbal and naz-T)

I run an SW2 and at the nationals I got spanked by Naz-T and Gimbal's rigs. If you build them right they can be just as competitive as any other setup. Just do your homework or save up some cash to have one built ( it's no shame to buy a tuber) They are pretty tricky to build right. But most of all just have fun with whatever you build!

Tubers can be competitive, as stated above it just takes planning to make it small and light yet strong. In the past people build tubers like 1:1 rigs with lots of triangulation and braces, this made them top heavy. Newer tubers are being built simplier and lighter.

I have just finished something that will combine the benefits of a tuber with the proven design of the SW2 chassis. We'll see how it does.

Check out the build of Gimbals chassis, using stailess tube (which is much stronger than mild steel brakeline) he made it small and light.
