A bec is a Battery Elimination circuit. It allows you to set what voltage is fed to your Rx. Or in the case of a hi voltage servo it can feed that higher voltage to just the servo if need be depending on how it's wired. Castle 10 amp bec is popular and not expensive. Hello, Q: WHat is a BEC? A: A BEC is a Battery Eliminator Circuit. Visit castle creations web site to see wiring diagrams and just google wiring in a BEC, should be fruitful. Q: Do you need one? A: A BEC is used when one is running a battery that's voltage is surpassing the smaller electronics capabilities( a 3s lipo is where they start becoming useful). Some ESC's have BEC's built in, some don't. If your using a battery that is 3s or above, check your ESC's specs, and buy accordingly. I have been told BEC's are very useful when running multiple servos on a vehicle as the power from a BEC is directed from BAT to Receiver instead of BAT to ESC to Receiver, in some circumstances making the power more accessible for the other electronics drawing from your receiver. This was from a salesman behind a counter( I tend not to trust them until I research a little myself) so this could have been a tactic to get me to throw my 20-25 bucks on the counter. In short, check your ESC's specs against what battery your running. I run a CastleCreations BEC in my LosiCompCrawler with a 3s but not in my scx10 with a 2s. Hope this helps! Ooops, forgot: jk |

I to am interested in learning how to wire these thing and learned from a thread that I started. That it will be needed. I think since your going to add weight it the front definitely a must. The BEC will allow the servo to get the power it needs with out interfering with the esc and stuff. Atleast thats how I understand it. I am sure you will get much better explanations from the more veteran guys and the people that know what theyre doing. A lot of people say the caste creations BEC is a good and well priced one. The best I could recommend is doing a youtube search or google. I say youtube cause that way I can actually see what happening. Just a quick search for you and me. Good luck https://www.google.com/search?q=how+...+a+bec&tbm=vid |
