Axles for an SCX10 or Wraith use differentials, but can also be locked so both wheels will always turn. If you are talking motor on axle (MOA), such as a Bully axle, these don't have a differential. I would say personal preference, are you looking for a competition type crawler or something more realistic and scale.

Axial's website indicates Wraith axles come with lockers from the factory.
Both the Scorpions I bought had Axial's 'iron cross' lockers at both ends. Gear sets were included for those who wanted to go open diff. Even the axle kits come with the 'green bean' locker in them (and no open diff gears).

I've never gotten my hands on a wraith, but I'd be led to believe they're locked already.

Trailsnail is incorrect. Wraiths come with iron cross lockers and no diff gears are included.
