Default What do I need for my tool box

I am new to crawling, I picked up an SCX10 Wrangler Rubicon RTR a couple days ago. I was FPV quadcopter flying prior to the FAA smack down on the hobby, so my tool box is filled with various tools- assortment of allen wrenches, soldering iron, various sized screw drivers, but what would be some must have spare parts to keep on hand?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

Here are a few of the things I take a long when going out crawling

  • A really good set of hex drivers with comfortable handles for 1.5mm, 2.0mm and 2.5mm.
  • A good assortment of screws especially the ones for the steering knuckles.
  • Spare wheel nuts.
  • The pins for the drive shafts and a set of spare drive shafts if I am going out to a remote location.
  • Extra batteries for the transmitter.
  • Extra Hex hubs and pins.
  • Duct Tape.

A couple things I would add to his really great list:

Tube of shoe goo or E6000 glue
some blue lock tite
some small zip ties 4" and maybe some 6"
miniture set of needle nose pliers
A spare steering knuckle (seems to be the part I break the most on the trail)

Besides all the common items, I find these to be useful:
  • 5.5mm Ignition Wrench (for M3 nuts)
  • Steel Dental Picks
  • A good quality Hobby Knife
  • Sprue/Flush Cutters
  • Tweezers and/or Hemostats
  • Tamiya Swabs (they're actually really handy) TowerHobbies.com | Search Results
  • A small magnetizer/demagnetizer for your drivers

Thanks for starting this thread, I need to put together a tool box too. I have lost body clips, so I will make sure to have tons of them.
